Herpy.nu is now closed and archived - will be replaced by something new and better.

Herpy has had a good 13 year run and will never be forgotten for those of us who experienced it. Sadly the site is today unappealing and is no longer fit for the audience of 2018. The gallery will remain operational until further notice. You can follow me on Twitter for further developments. We also have a Discord server which has become the heart of the community. If you wish to join it, send me a PM over Twitter.

Kind regards,
Valcyrie

Skrom's Game Design: "F*CK a Creature VR" [NSFW]

Post by Skrom » December 24th, 2016, 12:26 pm

Hello everyone :)

Some of you may know, but I'm actually creating my own indie game studio (As developer and Team manager and Game Designer. That's a lot yeah !)

But today I need YOU ! :3

I'd like to tell you about my Idea, feel free to comment and Like / Dislike and whatever you want. If the Idea is cool to you, then I'll probably create it for real !

The Idea:

Porn games exists but are somewhat anime related or too human related, plus the game part isn't here ...
That would be cool if a fandom, let's say Herpy's one could have something more specific :3

There is Dragons, Gryphons and other species in this community (Sorry for species I forgot ^.=.^"), And I'd like to fulfill their Dream's !

Here is the objectives I'd like to achieve with this project:
- Allow users of our Fandom to have Good time with the creature of their choice
- Preserve as much as possible the VR Immersion Magic
- Allow the experience to be a Game

The Solution:

I guess you figured that I'd like to create a porn game with Creatures in it, preferably ferals. (Creatures include Dragons, Gryphons, Dinosaurs ... Your choice I guess)
I'd like to use the VR headsets we could find in stores to "Transport ourselves" in the creatures' world, have the presence of the creature near you.

I'd like to create too some pieces of hardware, I'll call them sensors. They can be put on stuff like:
- Masturbators
- Dildos
- Any other cool toy :)

They'll catch the moves of the toy they are linked to. For example any masturbator will catch movements to simulate the Creature's reaction.

The game will allow you to have "Scenarios". Let's say you start with a licking then you finish with a penetration or anything you want.
Every "Good Time" you have with the creature will award you "Affection points", the more you have with a creature, the more you can unlock personalization and actions.

"How do you make money with it ?" I need you to answer this question, please tell me what you think about it and I'll see the money stuff later !

Thank you for reading ^.=.^

Well VR gloves/headsets and privates covers/sheaths thingies exist, but I think the main problem with this game is that not many people have any or all VR, and so I think this game would be a bit ahead of the market.
That said, the day that people make full body VR suits (simulating heat, pressure, wind, electricity etc) and semi Turing test passing AI will open up a huge new sort of games, like convincing RP games and such. However, I digress.
Also when you say 'How do you make money' are you asking input on how you as the dev would make money or ingame money for characters?

That is not a bad idea at all! If you are really doing it, maybe you could use patreon (idk about steam greenlight, would steam want a porn game?). Keep us updated!

Thanks for your answers ^.=.^ !

The goal is actually to create "A fair VR experience at a price users are willing to pay". Of course not many people have VR (Nor do I :p). But ! I'm sure quite a lot of people already have stuff to lower the price (Sextoys mainly).

I'm thinking about this problem, I'll try to build my own hardware as cheap as possible. For the VR stuff, I'll guess a crappy cardboard with a phone is "still" a better alternative than a pair of paws and pictures in herpy gallery :p

When I told about money, of course I have to pay my food, but this should be your preoccupations yet. I'm actually trying to find a "Way" to earn enough money to live and deliver a cool experience. I'm pitching about a concept, not a business model ^.=.^

A patreon is an awesome Idea, If the money output is enough, the game could be free ! (Therefore, sensors should be bought however, but I'm trying to find an alternative to it. A lot of devices have gyroscope and accelerometers after all ...)

Theres a few companies that let you lower a fixed price by appealing your financial situation, which is good if you are not intending the game to be for the public but rather a niche audience (which this sounds like). You would have to look at each individual request however.

An interactive feral dragon sex game? I like the sound of that.

As long as there'd be a non-VR version, since headsets are quite pricey.
Aim high in life, but watch out for flying boxes.

Simple question Skrom: How much experience do you have in making games in general?
Don't kill the edge and become like the rest.
Don't lose the faith that made you who you are
Don't kill the edge that manifests inside
This world is mine; it's where my thoughts collide...

Rawr ^.=.^

I've got my own game studio and I've been working in this domain for 3 years now :3

Don't worry about my experience, I'm looking for a cool way to earn money for my studio now. I'm working on a long term project and it basically needs income to become it better :)

Yeah, but what I'm worrying about is that you're trying to bite more than you can chew.
I mean, I'm a gamedev, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do such robust game on by myself.
I've tried that once, and... Well...
"That's not gone well."
But since I became a part of the team we've released a couple of titles...

What I'm saying is try to find someone who'll help you with that. Not on the financial terms, but with the actual work.

Thank you for asking :) The goal yet isn't to create a game from A to Z, but imagine, gather feedbacks and maybe "Create a prototype" (With crap graphics and pokemon 3D models for example).
Then if the prototype is "satisfying", I'll consider to turn this into a real experience and hire / gather some developers and artists to work on it with me :D

By the way, do I understand you would like to be part of a potential adventure ? :p

Exactly the problem I had when I first started to code (and still do)... I'm a hatchling coder, and I find that I get stuck for ideas to develop and improve my coding skills so I can take it to the next level. Made a simple Visual.js game with ~800 lines of code a couple times (with the complexity of a 90s arcade game) and a few simple physics engines, but that's all so...
Don't know how people get to coding stuff like big Indie titles like KSP or Minecraft even with only a few people to help.

Well basically, Minecraft or KSP weren't released in a single version, they were iterated. KSP was for a long long long time in early access ^.=.^
Plus, people are "Developers" as their job. They do it everyday, nothing is comparable to someone that code once a week (In term of Experiences and Thoughts).

What I'm trying to say here is that I'm a developer "From a developer School", I worked in game studios multiple times, as part time and internship and yet I'm launching my indie game studio.

Basically I learned the processes in game creations, as producer, game designer and developer. Of course I have plenty to learn but ... I'm trying to create a "Concept" and a "Prototype" :3 Which I could later iterate with a team.
