Herpy.nu is now closed and archived - will be replaced by something new and better.

Herpy has had a good 13 year run and will never be forgotten for those of us who experienced it. Sadly the site is today unappealing and is no longer fit for the audience of 2018. The gallery will remain operational until further notice. You can follow me on Twitter for further developments. We also have a Discord server which has become the heart of the community. If you wish to join it, send me a PM over Twitter.

Kind regards,
Valcyrie

"All hands: the word is given" - speaks through the intercom on the bridge of the carrier SCS Dragonclaw; the flagship of the 37th Shaikan fleet...

Very well, the initiator is pleased with number of leaders and shall organize a marathon. Who's up for playing it round by round each time sharing the save file?

Yes, play by email sounds awesome. And I suppose I can play any of them, but yes 5th would be the best. Gotta love those fancy graphics.

Well. It so happens I still have "Brave New World" on my laptop, so... Who's up for it, and when?

I checked out how to do this. Unfortunately idk how to run dedicated server and normal client with single steam account. I tried on other computer to launch the client and make it work as the server but it sucks so much that it won't run the client. I also know it won't be possible to run it twice on a single device. So far uploading save files here seems to be the only available option.

You don't need to create servers, nor so such thing. Though Civ V doesn't have a Play by Email option, you can work this around.
It goes like this.
Every player send to you (or me for that matter) the type of civilization he wants to run. Player name, leader, and password for it.
Then you start a new multiplayer Hot Seat game, creating those players. And just start. Then when you hit the End turn, you have a pop-up window to type the pasword for another civ, but instead you hit "save game", and send the file via email to next in line player. He pastes it into proper folder, starts the game, goes to Multiplayer section, select Hot Seat, and load save file. Types in his password, does his turn, saves the file, sends it to another, and so on.
That's how the Play-By-email games go. It has pros and cons.

So guys, once again. Hands up who wanna join and which nation.
I for myself would like Germans, but I can play any other nation given time. The setting would be Earth map. Too bad it would take a pain for everyone to utilize the Earth mod and other mods would you agree, if anyone has experiences on how to play it together with mods, I'm all ears, please tell, but I suppose there is no easy way so we will have to do with vanilla.
Now the setting would be, unless you wanna something changed:
Huge Earth map, marathon game pace, ancient starting era, 3 bil year old world (if you want North and South America or Africa with Asia to be connectable by roads it would have to be 5 bil years), temperate setting, rainfall to wet, sea level will be low, resources will be abundant, victories will be all but time.
Now other settings: Allow Policy Saving = yes, Allow Promotion Saving = yes ,Raging Barbarians = yes, better watch out. :D

Ummm.... Yeah...
The thing is, I got kinda bored waiting for the response, so minding how horribly I dislike the fifth installment of the game...
I've eradicated every last reminder of it's presence from my HDD...
Just for the fun of it...
And I've re-sold the DVD long time ago...
...
I still have Civ IV: Colonization with TAC mod, if you want to give it a go...
