Herpy.nu is now closed and archived - will be replaced by something new and better.
Herpy has had a good 13 year run and will never be forgotten for those of us who experienced it. Sadly the site is today unappealing and is no longer fit for the audience of 2018. The gallery will remain operational until further notice. You can follow me on Twitter for further developments. We also have a Discord server which has become the heart of the community. If you wish to join it, send me a PM over Twitter.
Kind regards,
Valcyrie

Photography
So I haven't seen a topic on it anywhere else yet, though I could very easily be mistaken. Does anyone else here dabble in photography? Does anyone typically post their work anywhere?
Whether you are new, professional, or just vaguely interested this could be an area to talk to fellow camera enthusiasts and share tips and ideas and inspirations.
I myself, have a fondness for architecture, wildlife, and landscapes (cityscapes count!) for my subject medium. I'm pretty terrible taking pictures of people as the colouring never really turns out right to me. All of my work is done with a Nikon D3300 and a variety of lenses.

Re: Photography
I had taken a photography class in school, to the teacher i was a great photographer. And i always have been. Im really more interested in avation photography or just pictures of machines in all. But sometimes i do go out and take photos in nature. Its really peaceful. But that is when i HAD the camera now i dont. All i have is a phone camera. Photography would be a hobby for me more than a carrier and im putting cash into other things right now. But ill post some photos when i find some! Nice photo btw!
i always love the classic sunrise or sunset!

Whatever you do, DONT SCRATCH THE PAINT!

Re: Photography
I've studied photography in a professional sense but only covered some very basics. I'm fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to have some of my work features in a magazine, but that's usually down to freelancers.

Re: Photography
I just got back from a vacation. I will probably toss up one or two of the better shots from that on here if there's interest.
Re: Photography
Post them up in the art section of the forums!
I took some black and white photography classes when I was in high school and I absolutely loved them. We got to develop our own film and print all our own photos in a dark room. It's a very hands on process and it's fun working through each step. I don't really like practicing digital photography as much since it's so simple comparatively. It's pretty much impossible to find public dark rooms anymore so my interest in photography waned after school.
I still really like seeing photography done by others though. I particularly like photos of unaware people on streets and also shots of people in movement.

I've been using a really old camera I found in my grandad's attic last year. Its cool how it still works when I got some new film in
Re: Photography
Where do you find film these days? Granted, I don't look, but I thought that was largely gone now.

Re: Photography
I too enjoy photography, when I see a landscape I like, I can’t help but to take a picture.
You may not realize how much you love something until you lose it. So if you find it, never let go.

Re: Photography
My favourite type of Photography has got to be Rainforest or Ocean photography. I took a trip to the Daintree rainforest (up North in Australia) earlier in the year but unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera!
This is probably my favourite image and it is my current wallpaper (I didn't take it myself, though! Credit is Microsoft)

Re: Photography
I enjoy photography very much ^.-.^ Haven't really done it in a long way though, but I do have some lovely pictures laying around somewhere. However, I'm too lazy to look for them so this will have to do in the meantime
Meine Heilkatze as I call it as a joke, or the remains of a M18 Hellcat dragged up from the English channel after the invasion of Normandy 1944. I like playing with perspectives when I take pics and make things ascew or abnormally small or large compared to what they actually are.
