Herpy has had a good 13 year run and will never be forgotten for those of us who experienced it. Sadly the site is today unappealing and is no longer fit for the audience of 2018. Latest post of the previous page:

Xaithis wrote:For me, initially, when I was younger, I was very subtle as a person, and didn't really speak to people much in general, (especially not about sexual topics, leading to most believing I was asexual) asides from my very close friends. My psychiatrist ended up prescribing me anti-depressant/anxiety medication, which was really effective, but also had the side effect of making me really... Relaxed, calm and open about things...

Initially when I started on the medication, one of my closest friends at the time (who is still a very close friend) started to notice me talking about dragons a lot, and in unusual ways (for him). This first became apparent when we were talking about our 'dream' partners in the future (in a semi-comical manner), and my choice was a dragon, he didn't really understand, but went along with it. Eventually my meds were upped, and I started telling him... More; he still hadn't really caught on though, until one day our social group was talking about their 'strange fetishes', after which I burst into laughter and told them they had nothing on me, then revealed to them. Someone had actually overheard the conversation, and soon my whole school came to know, I was already seen as eccentric, so it wasn't much of a problem. Then I told them that I was a dragon, which by this point they just accepted... And to this day, pretty much all of my friends know... Come to think of it, it must have been strange for other pupils, listening to me telling my teachers about my pornographic interests, due to 'in-jokes' that some people had made in front of them, and them having very adverse reactions... Then again, they just accepted it as my eccentric nature! So really it fortunately worked out quite well for me, as most of my friends are quite accepting.

Also, sorry for the long comment. :)
I can really relate to that first part... not the meds though. Just let it all out here. :D

Most people know I love dragons, that's no secret - they can be found in every room of my house in different ammounts. My lust for them, however... only 2 people know: My mate, and my best friend who also was the one to actually show me this place back in the day. I dont feel it's necessary to show around something to people that's usually considered deranged.

I myself have never admitted to having a deep seated attraction to dragons in the sexual or emotional sense and most of those who know me simply see it as a casual obsession. None of these people don't know about the "dark side" as far as I am aware, and even though we live in a more open minded society than we did 60 years ago the mere mention of such a thing still carries a potential risk of being thought of as a nut case.

A few days ago (on the weekend or maybe on friday) i did tell a friend of mine about it. He did know already that i love dragons to death, so he wasn't surprised. Took advantage that there was no one home and i was pretty straightfoward about it.
The dragon that inhabited my soul left and now it watches over me.

Most of my good friends know, my mum and sister do (by accident) but it's not really a big thing to me anymore. Most people think I'm nuts anyway, I don't think most people are interested in what others find attractive as a general rule, I told a friend about it (and showed her a dragon porn sketch I was drawing at the time!) just to stop her going into the 'I'm a special flower' rant! She took it well, she even commissioned me to do her a drawing after that! XD

"By accident"? Is it an interesting story?

Not really Mum found one of my sketchbooks she didn't even really seem to notice what they were, just was thrilled I'd started to draw again I even asked her if she noticed anything unusual about them she said 'what because they're all lizards?' I figured she'd get upset or keep asking questions but nope didn't even make a joke of it. At least not at first she does occasionally say stuff when dragons or dinosaurs appear on the Tv! My sister and I haven't a good relationship but she's the more tech savvy member of the household hence she found out when she was setting up my computer with the home network and wifi. I'm unsure of her thoughts on the subject but she despises all other human beings and loves animals (formally dragons before she found out about my feelings towards them, she's since disowned them and got rid of all her dragon related items). And thinks all furries/scalies are zoophiles. So I'm not going to try to get anything positive from her.

Well at least they don't actively hate you right? Other people's reactions are scary in my opinion, especially if they are going to spread hate around. Good to hear it went ok for you then!

That's why I'm scared to tell anybody about it. Because I don't know how they will react. And I really don't want to lose some of my best friends.

I obviously can't speak for all my friends but I've told the ones who I think can cope with it. If they would leave you because of a weird fantasy/fetish they're not really your friends! I mean some of mine talk about their weird sexy crud (One of them is really into violent bodadge... And has the scars to prove it) just to 'rock the social boat'. Everybody's weird in some way or the other.

You only get hatred when people don't understand as long as I explain it, carefully that its not beastiality, most of my Real friends seem to be able to cope with the idea. People who get offended by it are the ones who jump to conclusions, over exaggerate while not listening to anything your saying to them and look to find some way of faulting you... In my opinion they're are the last people you want as friends.
