Herpy.nu is now closed and archived - will be replaced by something new and better.

Herpy has had a good 13 year run and will never be forgotten for those of us who experienced it. Sadly the site is today unappealing and is no longer fit for the audience of 2018. The gallery will remain operational until further notice. You can follow me on Twitter for further developments. We also have a Discord server which has become the heart of the community. If you wish to join it, send me a PM over Twitter.

Kind regards,

So yes we all get enjoyment from movies. What about live entertainment? Do you guys like live music or performance arts? Theatre or circus tents? If so how do they compare to films or digital music?🤔

It depends. I can watch terrible piles of trash like Birdemic and The Room, because ineptitude is funny to me when it hits a certain degree. Watching people fail in this particular regard is entertaining, which is weird, because they set out to entertain people, and didn't succeed, yet still DID succeed... As for the live entertainment thing, I do appreciate live performances, but apart from opera and orchestral performences, I prefer sitting at home and watching/ listening to edited versions of these things. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy live shows and music. I remember seeing Green Day in concert when I was nine years old, and I had a heck of a time, but if my options are, "Go see Hamlet live" or "Stay home and watch 'The Raid'" my mind is made up. I'm staying home.

I used to in the past, but lately I tend to skip them more and more often.
The older I get, the more I enjoy the music privately in my flat, without crowds and so on, it seems.

The same goes with the sport events.
I've been once on "Tour de Pologne" - waited for three hours in the crowd, and saw the cyclists pass by for like... Thirty seconds... (?)
With next event I've stayed home and watched the whole dam thing on TV.

That’s one of the reasons I never understood why everybody was so excited about the big tour cycle races I suppose you’ve got more people competing in them so they’re going by for longer.... I mean at least twenty seconds more!😝

Yeah. Over here, it's American football, and baseball. The same thing applies. People will pay a hundred bucks to sit down in a hard plastic chair and watch a game being played eighty yards away. I'm not hugely into sporting events, so the whole "watching them live" thing doesn't appeal to me, but I'll sit at home. You're practically on the field/court while watching on television.

I don’t think there’s many members or on the internet generally that like sporting events. Unless you count the street fighter championship as a sport. 😝

Well, eSports are sports. They get P1A visas for international tournaments. They need to be physically prepared, and able to utilize their insane reflexes. They need to study game plans and plays. They're sponsored by noteworthy companies. They're athletes.

@Nuulstalädt I was always wondering why do you Americans call that thing a "football"...
I mean it's not even remotely spherical, and is carried in arms most of the time.
Like WTF?

It's because, back in the 19th century, football became distinguishable from rugby by illegalizing many of the uses of hands that rugby permitted. The then uncommon lack of hand-player contact spawned the term "rugby football" and the name evolved with the game... at least, I think that's how it went. I'm a decent running back, but I'm shaky on my history. There's also the tried-and-true "it's stupid" explanation which, to be fair, is just as true.

Seems about right! 🤔⚽️ If that doesn’t qualify football as a form of religion I don’t know what does! 😝
