Herpy.nu will close down in January 2018 - will be replaced by something new and better.

Herpy has had a good 13 year run and will never be forgotten for those of us who experienced it. Sadly the site is today unappealing and is no longer fit for the audience of 2018, and years of smear campaigns have given us a reputation that has been hard to shake. We therefore made the choice to close the site and move on to a brighter future. While the forums will be archived as a memory of times of past greatness, new funds have been raised and new admins have been recruited to start working on a entire new community far away from Bad Dragon and any association with that company. The gallery will remain operational in the meantime. You can follow me on Twitter for further developments. We also have a Discord server which has become the heart of the community. If you wish to join it, send a PM to Valcyrie.

Herpy have always been my little lovechild since I joined over a decade ago. But he grew up, and as he has aged with dignity its time for his hatchling to take over. A fresh start for a new generation in a new era.

Kind regards,
Valcyrie

So... these forums have gone a bit dead and migrated to Discord...

Yay! Well RPs kinda are better on forums if people are active I reckon.

Personally though, I think the forums do still have their merits, even if they would be less used.

I've seen that they allow more space for a lenghty discussion, that's a point i give to the forums.

That's basically why I prefer forums too... cause sometimes I only have a quarter hour or something to have a look at a topic.

Personally I think the topics of discussion go in some kinds of patchwork pattern in the general chat on the Discord... But the themes stay the same: Politics, Science/religion, RP, somebody having a bad day because of X, too many memes and of course the favourite 'talk about something benign' because somebody is spoiling for an argument because of Bad day caused by X.
Most are variations based on these themes, If you want to say something but don't have the time to put it into words you just wait till the theme reemerges and sway the chat so your answer has relevance this time around.

On the other hand this games finally going to have a winner Wonder how many will be posting December 31st 11.59PM? XP

Well... here's hoping everybody else forgot this thread.
Though, one would assume a topic like this would still see some kind of traffic. Something like this, so whimsical in its nature, is bound to see the recurring individuals for whom this is a real competition. Such competition is generally looked upon with fondness by most. This is, perhaps, due to the "nothing lost; nothing gained" stakes, wherein there is no fear of losing something physical, and none of the urgency that comes along with a real prize. That is, unless you count a bittersweet emotional feeling that leaves you with a memory of the time as a "real prize." Bitter, of course, because the competitors who wished each other well will disband and possibly never reunite in the same thread or, hell, even site. The competition ends. But sweet, because you, through perseverence and memory, have outplayed your "opponents" down to the last second. In any case, there is a profound sense of feeling and community in some game such as this.
That reminds me of another thing. In a community such as this (one so scrutinized by outsiders, yet welcoming to any who wander into its friendly midst) the feeling of community is found to be ingrained within one of life's greatest joys... conversation. A conversation is looked upon most with indifference, but think what we would be without it. I challenge anyone to go without conversation for a few days. No idle chatter, no YouTube comments, no social media, no anything. You may do it, but immediately afterwards, you will almost certainly start up a talk with someone. Regardless of what it was about, it would feel nice to do so. That's because basic interaction isn't enough. The usage of our voices to communicate ideas not essential to life, but essential to happiness, is a beauty not to be overlooked. And, indeed, the glorious patrons of this wonderful place have not overlooked said beauty. Not for a second.
Speaking of beauty, when was the last time the 0-3 people who will have gotten this far have stopped and stared at anything? Not a movie, nor a sporting event, or anything of that type, but the sky or a tree or the grass. The reason for the inquiry is that, like many people, I find myself at an inability to describe simple things like these. Staring at thick, but soft storm clouds on a mildly sunny day is to view a thing with such immense innate beauty that words fail to describe that beauty in any whole and complete way. Then again, words are eventually found for all things we, the scaled sentinels of a vast blue sky, hold dear. But, I digress. Words fail the most esteemed of us when viewing something truly magnificent.
Such is the way of things. Things that circle around back to the daily lives of each of us. Each of us in a solemn battle. A battle of words and timing that rages until the sun sets on this glorious accumulation of individuals.

What I'm trying to say is that I... am currently winning.

Yeah but if the winner is last person to post in this thread then surely now we have an ultimatum for Herpy.nu this unwinnable game shall end without a real prize for anyone! Because the whole point is there's no winner only the one at the moment... Which is currently me! :P

Ah, the spirit of competition. It's great. Even afterward, 'tis a group of people that will be together again soon on a new, fresh site.
Here's a good question. What does one do after winning something like this? The tried-and-true "Yesssss!" followed by a fist pump is a good guess. That's probably what I'd go for. Another possibility is a simple smile, with the thought of all of the other "contestants" thinking exvlusively of you for a while. Another likely response is tge "all physical" response, where one flails their arms around in triumph. Maybe they drop their phone or jump up from their desktop. That's always a joy to see. Even more likely, a full-bodied laugh. You know that laugh. The one that's backed with a little adrenaline, like when you beat a Dark Souls boss or catch something you ought not have caught. Anyway, It's a lovely thought to entertain, isn't it. The thought of winning something. Why? Because we like to win. We like to know that regardless of it being skill or chance, we beat someone else at something. The difference between this and something more serious though, is that there's no ill will to be found. I'm sure if we were all in the same room come the end, there would be smiles all around, a collective "aaaaah!" in the final seconds, and a congratulations to the winner from everyone. This is plain and simple fun, regardless of who's winning.

Regardless... of who... is winning. It's just as fun if nobody replies anymore starting riiiiight... now.
